Welcome!
The van Riper Research Group is dedicated to providing accurate and useful research-based information about human behavior in environmental planning and management contexts. We work with individuals, community partners and government agencies to provide insights into the factors that enable and constrain adaptations to environmental change. We rely on mixed methods and transdisciplinary research approaches and enjoy building quantitative models that incorporate both social and ecological data to explain why people make decisions. Much of this work is motivated by a desire to broaden representation of public interests, develop strategies that support sustainable economic growth, and guide both policy and future research directions.
